PE and School Sport Training, Updates and Information

Information to support those less confident in teaching PE to better understand the National Curriculum requirements, skill progressions and inclusion in greater depth to support the delivery of high quality PE, school sport and physical activity.

PE Skills Session (Some practical involvement):  There will be practical teaching elements involved in this session.  This will involve activities and skill-related drills to help introduce PE and related theoretical topics, so please dress in appropriate clothing and footwear.

GSSP member schools are able to book as many spaces as desired.  Please ensure a workshop booking form is completed for each separate staff member attending.

Candidates booked onto the course will be listed on a register at Shooters Hill College front gate, so please ensure you have secured a place on the course at least the day before the event to ensure you are on the candidate list.

GSSP PRIMARY PE LEAD TEACHER COURSE
 

Date:  Friday 3rd July

Time:  9.30am (Registration); 10am -3pm

Venue:  The Boathouse, Danson Road, Bexleyheath, DA6 8HL

Included:  Refreshments and lunch (please email if you have any specific dietary requirements / food allergies)

  • Choice of practical involvement or observation session
  • Handouts, practical advice / guidance, PowerPoint presentation
  • GSSP CPD Course Certificate

AM (10am-12pm) – Introduction to Danson Park Adventures, including a sailing experience (choice of practical involvement or observing)

Staff participating – Practical sailing experience which will take place within small groups.  This will involve introduction to water sport activities available (including a sailing experience) and the venues availability to local schools for a revisit.  Please dress in appropriate clothing and footwear for a sailing experience!

Staff observing – There will be opportunities provided to observe activities and develop an understanding of the benefits that the centre has to offer GSSP schools (all ages and abilities).  There will be no physical participation required if you are observing, just an opportunity to watch and take notes.

Lunch @ The Boathouse (12 – 12.45pm) – Food provided, including vegan / vegetarian options.  Please email if you have any specific dietary requirements.

PM (12.45pm – 2.30pm) – PE and School Sport Training, Updates and Information

school games mark workshop (teams)
 

Date:  Monday 18th May 2026

Time:  11.30am - 12.15pm

Venue:  Online Teams meeting (link sent via email – please request link by emailing ian.goldsmith@shc.ac.uk  if you are interested in attending this workshop).

The School Games Mark is a nationally accredited award designed to provide schools with a government-backed award to publicly demonstrate their level of engagement in PE and school sport.

This online School Games Mark Workshop will guide you through the criteria and application process.

gssp own school cpd Opportunities
 

GSSP members have the opportunity to book CPD at their own school in gymnastics, dance and tennis as part of their GSSP membership.  These opportunities are available at no additional cost once you are a GSSP member.

PRIMARY TEACHER TRAINING COURSE - TENNIS
 

All teachers who complete the free primary teacher training course will receive an individual  resource pack and a £250 voucher (limited to one per school) to spend on equipment, or ten hours of team teaching support from an LTA Accredited Coach.

The course is designed to take 1-1.5 hours and can be run at your own school at a time that suits you and the course deliverer (Twist Fizz).
